Another round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine will happen in Istanbul next Monday, June 2.

Ukraine says that it has “formally submitted its ceasefire terms to Russia. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Russia has not responded with its own terms but emphasized that Ukraine is ready for an “unconditional ceasefire.””

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov seems just as weary with this process as the rest of us. He expressed hope that “all those who are sincerely interested in the success of the peace process, and not merely paying lip service to it, will support the new round of Istanbul direct Russia-Ukraine negotiations.”

The U.S. Court of International Trade struck down President Trump’s use of emergency executive powers to impose tariffs on nearly all imports.

This comes as the President was asked about the acronym TACO in terms of tariffs. It means: Trump Always Chickens Out. It pissed him off.

“You ask a nasty question like that. It’s called negotiation. You set a number… if I set a number at a ridiculously high, I go down a little bit, they want me to hold that number. 145% tariff.” Trump said that “we were doing no business because of the tariff, because it was so high. I knew that. But don’t ever say what you said. That’s a nasty question.”

Well, he isn’t chickening out, he’s being blocked by a court that ruled that he cannot use the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to implement tariffs.

The federal government will most likely appeal the ruling and ask for a stay to keep the tariffs in place. If the ruling stands, it would curtail executive power significantly, requiring a clearer Congressional mandate before future tariffs can be imposed under emergency declarations.

Elon Musk has ended his time in the Trump administration. On Wednesday, he posted this:

“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

He did say that his time in the federal government would be temporary but what could really be done in just four months? Did he create a legacy in DOGE that can function without him?

DOGE has announced cut after cut to small government projects but Republicans are working to tack on new ones with the Big Beautiful Bill.

Trump advisor Stephen Miller says that the DOGE “work has only just begun.”

As of May 2025, the U.S. national debt reached an all-time high of $36 trillion but the DOGE clock of money saved is just under $500 billion, or $4,315 per taxpayer.

Last year, Spain, Norway, Slovenia and Ireland were condemned for formally recognizing Palestine. Since then, Israel has rained down absolute torture on Palestinian civilians and now other European countries are poised to follow suit.

In just a few weeks, France and Saudi Arabia will co-host a United Nations summit in New York, to advance the recognition of a Palestinian state and to reinvigorate efforts toward a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Belgium, Portugal, and Luxembourg are also expected to participate. The U.S. is not a party to this but it has not opposed it enough either, which is reportedly making Israel nervous.

Most of the world recognizes Palestine. The only holdouts are Western nations and Israel is rapidly losing its favor.

This is all symbolic though. Germany has announced an end to weapons shipments to Israel but the U.S. has not. The United Nations has passed votes for a ceasefire from Israel many times but they don’t have to honor it.

US special envoy to the Mideast Steve Witkoff has indicated once again that a ceasefire may be within reach. He said on Wednesday that he has “very good feelings” about the chances for reaching a temporary ceasefire and hostage deal that could lead to a long-term resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

He may have good feelings but Israeli officials don’t, according to The Times of Israel.

“An unnamed Israeli official quickly dismissed Hamas’s claim of an agreement with the US, calling the statement ‘psychological warfare’ and ‘propaganda.'”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that any ceasefire deal will be temporary.

The World Health Organization finalized and adopted its Pandemic Agreement but the U.S. is not a part of it.

The final agreement is a severely diluted version of what the WHO intended. Most notably, it is not binding and does not give the WHO the ability to usurp the powers of any given nation as the original draft would have. The agreement explicitly states that it does not grant the WHO authority to dictate or enforce health policies within countries.

The treaty does not require countries to waive intellectual rights and share vaccines and treatments as the original would have. This is because pharmaceutical companies pushed back on that, not world leaders.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued this joint statement with Argentine Minister of Health Mario Lugones today since both countries withdrew from the WHO and avoided joining this treaty.

“Withdrawal marks the beginning of a new path—toward building a modern global health cooperation model grounded in scientific integrity, transparency, sovereignty, and accountability. Our shared commitment is to cost-effective, evidence-based public health interventions that prioritize prevention, especially in children, by addressing root causes such as environmental toxins, nutritional deficiencies, and food safety standards.”

The Journal of the American Medical Association does not agree that this is positive. They say that the lack of U.S. participation weakens global health security, undermines equity, and jeopardizes America’s role in shaping future pandemic responses.

Last week, two female Secret Service agents were caught on camera in a fistfight while they were supposed to be guarding the home of President Obama. Audio from the skirmish was released where one officer asks for backup before “before I whoop this girl’s ass.”

The Secret Service has not indicated if these women will be disciplined. The reporter who broke this story asks this important question about it:

“The incident is raising new concerns among fellow Secret Service agents and officers about the agency’s lowering of hiring standards during years of a major DEI push to add more minorities and women to the ranks under previous Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.”

These women are supposed to be guarding an American President! Race, gender aside, where is the commitment and professionalism!? This is appalling.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced that “the COVID vaccine for healthy children and healthy pregnant women has been removed from the CDC’s recommended immunization schedule.”

This does NOT mean that children cannot be mandated to take the Covid vaccine. Each state sets its own vaccine schedule and can mandate the Covid vaccines.

Last year, this peer-reviewed study called for the halt on mRNA vaccines in childhood vaccine schedules due to lack of safety standards.

The most recent covid vaccine was not tested on children under 12. It was authorized in 2023 for young children based on extrapolated data, not clinical trials conducted directly in that age group.

This comes as a new strain of Covid has been detected in the U.S. It is being called “highly infectious” but the WHO reports that the “severity” is “low.”

Republicans in the Senate may kill President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. The bill passed the House last week but GOP Senators are not willing to give President Trump a pass for the bill’s shortcomings.

The bill is a comprehensive tax and spending package that is high on the President’s wish list. It extends the 2017 tax cuts passed by the first Trump administration, increases the child tax credit, and introduce deductions for tips and overtime pay.

There are some good nuggets in there but it is also a spending bonanza that could add $2.3 trillion to the deficit. Representative Thomas Massie explained it on Redacted last week.

Elon Musk criticized the bill as a disappointment, stating it undermines DOGE’s efforts to reduce government spending.

Over the weekend, this video of French President Emmanuel Macron being shoved in the face by his wife, the First Lady Brigitte Macron, was trending because it is inexplicable and shocking.

The French government tried to deny the authenticity of the images but later said that the couple were just “horsing around” and “joking.”

It highlights uncomfortable truths about the Macrons, namely that the President was groomed by his wife as a young teenager and that their relationship began under power-imbalanced, ethically fraught conditions. This behavior begs the question about a continued unhealthy dynamic. Has it been like this since the President was a 14 year-old student?

It brings up continued unanswered questions about the couple, namely that they have never satisfactorily proven that she is a woman, that they have never answered for the fact that the works of André Gide, an avowed pederast, are featured in the Presidential portrait, and that their admission of his age when they met changed from 17 to 14.

If a woman had been groomed by a much-older male teacher and then caught on video being shoved in the face in this way, would we react differently? This is an uncomfortable thing to confront and getting even harder to ignore.

The FBI is currently investigating the cocaine discovery at the Biden White House, the Supreme Court leak of the Dobbs case that overturned nation-wide legalized abortion, and the DC pipe bombing, according to Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino.

The Biden White House never explained the cocaine that was found in 2023. It’s surprising that they ever publicized it at all.

It is surprising that they never investigated the abortion case leak too. It is not expressly illegal to leak supreme court opinions but the fact that no one was identified or punished only adds to the sense of unaccountability in high places.

Regarding the pipe bombing, he is referring to the unresolved case of the pipe bombs placed near the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters on January 5, 2021. Why didn’t the Biden justice department investigate that thoroughly?

These are valid questions but there are still so many unanswered promises from the FBI. The Epstein files, the JFK investigations, the Las Vegas shooter. This creates a crisis of trust that seems to be deepening with only half answers to major questions.

The Israeli military says that it will occupy 75 percent of Gaza’s territory within two months and plans to “concentrate” the entire civilian population into three small areas in the Strip.

Concentrate. Interesting choice of words, no?

The plan that Israel has proposed to distribute humanitarian aid has been described as “concentration camps.” There are reports of military distribution of aid and the use of “mercenary forces and biometrics to police civilians.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz joined in the opposition to Israel’s mission in Gaza. In this video, he says that the harm inflicted upon the civilian population in Gaza can no longer be justified as a fight against Hamas terrorism.

Meanwhile, in Jerusalem this weekend, groups of young Israeli Jews were filmed chanting “Death to Arabs” and singing “May your village burn” on Jerusalem Day. Police arrested a number of individuals while Israeli opposition groups such as “Standing Together and Free Jerusalem tried to position themselves between the marchers and residents to prevent violence.”

It is important to note how many Israelis risk their freedom speaking out against the violence against Palestinians. A group of ex-Israeli military called Breaking the Silence recently published this report called The Perimeter in which they report details the systematic destruction of homes and agricultural land along the Gaza border to create an expanded buffer zone and how the IDF used Palestinian civilians as human shields during military operations in Gaza. The Associated Press corroborated this report a few days ago.

President Trump says that Russian President Putin has “gone absolutely CRAZY” and that Ukrainian President Zelensky is “doing his country no favors by talking the way he does” because “everything out of his mouth causes problems.”

This was a reaction to Russian drone attacks, which Russia says were on “Ukrainian military facilities in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure.”

Russia admits striking “Ukrainian defense plants that manufacture missile and drone components, as well as electronic intelligence and satellite communication centers.” They say that this was “following days of unprecedented massive drone attacks from Kiev.”

Now German Chancellor Friedrich Merz says that Germany no longer has a problem with Ukraine using long-range weapons to hit Russia.

“We will do everything in our power to continue supporting Ukraine militarily,” the chancellor said. “There are no longer any range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine, neither from the British nor the French, nor from us, nor from the Americans.”

On what authority does he speak for the Americans? The U.S. has recently reiterated that it will no longer send Ukraine free weapons but is willing to sell them.

Russia says that this talk of long-range weapons are “entirely at odds with our aspirations for a political resolution and with the efforts currently being made toward a settlement” and that these are “quite dangerous decisions, again – if they were indeed made.”

A liberal group is boycotting Walmart this week – yes again – because they believe the company has “contributed to economic corruption.”

The irony here is that they are hurting the very people they pretend to protect. In this must-read 2006 article, Michael Strong shows how Walmart has lifted more people out of poverty than most NGOs making it the world’s #1 anti-poverty engine. What’s more, former Obama advisor and Harvard professor Jason Furman writes about how Walmart’s low prices save low income Americans more than $2,000 per year.

Do these boycotts aim to hurt working class people or are they just lashing out at the Trump administration? You would think that if they really want to help the underprivileged people that they claim to, they would want to shop at Walmart.

A new government report accuses the CDC, FDA, and HHS of delaying or suppressing warnings about myocarditis and other adverse events following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination, especially in young people.

The report comes from Senator Ron Johnson’s Subcommittee on Investigations. It is called Failure to Warn: How Federal Agencies Downplayed the Risk of Myocarditis and Other Adverse Events Following Covid-19 Vaccination. It is damning.

It includes internal emails showing that both the CDC and FDA discussed issuing a Health Alert Network or HAN in May 2021 but ultimately replaced it with vague “clinical considerations” on the CDC website. It also showed that the CDC gave advance notice of safety discussions with Pfizer and Moderna while withholding similar information from the public and doctors.

It shows a deliberate and systemic failure to serve the American public and allow them the ability to give informed consent to the vaccines risks. Why did they protect the vaccines so fiercely and not the American people?

President Trump met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Oval Office on Wednesday and confronted him with video evidence of the country’s treatment of white farmers.

President Trump called it a genocide and President Ramaphosa denied the scale of the problem and that it happened exclusively to white people. President Ramaphosa said that there is criminality in South Africa but people who get killed are not only white people.

What we have here is a tale of two “genocides.” Undoubtedly white farmers have been killed and it must be terrifying for them. By some estimates, more than 2,000 white farmers have been killed and the government does confiscate land but it also confiscates other white-owned business. But 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and President Trump has never confronted Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu like this.

Colonel Douglas Macgregor notes that this was likely done “at the behest of Israel.” South Africa has accused Israel of a genocide on the people of Gaza at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which Israel strongly condemns. By spotlighting alleged abuses in South Africa, Trump appears to be attempting to counter South Africa’s criticisms of Israel, thereby influencing international perceptions and diplomatic dynamics related to the Gaza conflict.

Will it work? It does not appear to be working.

Republicans are reworking President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a comprehensive tax and spending package that is high on the President’s wish list.

The bill will extend the 2017 tax cuts passed by the first Trump administration, increase the child tax credit, and introduce deductions for tips and overtime pay.

There are some good nuggets in there but it is also a spending bonanza that could add $2.3 trillion to the deficit. It has a Medicaid work requirement that won’t go into effect for five years and is easy to work around. It expands military spending. It also has expanded infrastructure and energy tax credits that echo the very climate policies Republicans once criticized.

In essence, the bill tries to be all things to all wings of the GOP: tax hawks, social conservatives, and big-spending populists. As Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie said on Wednesday’s episode of Redacted: Why does this all have to happen in one big bill? Why can’t these goals be accomplished more efficiently in separate bills?

CNN reports that Israel is planning to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, even as the Trump administration is actively negotiating a nuclear treaty.

“Officials caution it’s not clear that Israeli leaders have made a final decision, and that in fact, there is deep disagreement within the US government about the likelihood that Israel will ultimately act. Whether and how Israel strikes will likely depend on what it thinks of the US negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear program,” CNN reports.

Why would Israel thwart the U.S. deal when so much of its own military is built on U.S. donations? To sabotage that deal, according to a source.

“I think it’s more likely they strike to try and get the deal to fall apart if they think Trump is going to settle for a ‘bad deal,’” the US intelligence source told CNN. “The Israelis have not been shy about signaling that to us … both publicly and privately.”

The source says that the U.S. is “unlikely” to help if Israel moves forward with this plan but the U.S. would be dragged into a war with Iran if it escalates.

White House sources also told Axios that President Trump wants the war in Gaza to end because the optics of so many civilian deaths is bad.

“The president is frustrated about what is happening in Gaza. He wants the war to end, he wants the hostages to come home, he wants aid to go in and he wants to start rebuilding Gaza,” one White House official said.

He is really the only one who can stop it but will he?

President Trump says that the people who ran the Biden White House should face “severe legal” consequences. In the wake of President Biden’s admission of a late-stage cancer, it is clear that he was not well in the recent past and surely not well enough to run the United States of America.

But how can we find out who manipulated President Biden? Did he in fact understand the laws he put into effect? Or some of them at least? Is it possible to ever know that? It is clear that he wanted to run for re-election and that choice was taken from him. But by who!?

Incidentally, this is the plot of the 1993 movie Dave but the doppelgänger ran the country for the better.

President Trump can call for consequences but he can’t launch his own investigations. He can appoint a Special Counsel, which is probably a good idea. The Justice Department can also launch its own investigation and clearly it should.

The Defense Department has ordered a “comprehensive review” of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 “that led to the deaths of 13 U.S. Service members and 170 civilians in a suicide bombing at the Kabul International Airport’s Abbey Gate.”

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that a three-month review of the withdrawal has led him to the conclusion that more answers are needed.

The withdrawal was ordered by President Trump during his first term but executed by the Biden administration after two decades of pointless war in Afghanistan that the Bush administration knew it could not win. It begs the question as to whether or not there was ever a way to withdraw properly from such an epic loss. Could the lesson here be not to dig into mud we cannot get out of?

The FDA says that it will no longer approve Covid vaccines without clinical trials for the general population. Instead, it will only approve COVID-19 vaccines for:

• Adults aged 65 and older.
• Individuals aged 6 months and older with at least one high-risk condition (e.g., asthma, diabetes, cancer, obesity).

This was announced in a New England Journal of Medicine publication by FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary and Dr. Vinay Prasad, head of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. It means that no approval for the general population unless there are clinical trials, not emergency use authorizations.

This does not mean that the current vaccines will be removed from the childhood vaccine schedule. That is determined by the CDC so as of now, the COVID-19 vaccine is still on the CDC’s recommended schedule for children as young as 6 months.

At the very least, it will mean shots going forward will need full approval but based on the way that the Novavax vaccine was approved last week based on truly shit trials, we shouldn’t get that excited yet. The standards for trials must go up at the same time as the requirement.
